Tim Burton

First of all… OMG he is **** awesome! Every movie the man makes is absolutely amazing…

Okay back to my normal self J. I think Tim Burton is a genius. When I first saw a movie of Tim Burton I felt in love with his style of art. My first movie of him was Sweeny Todd. This movie impressed me and made me wander if this man had some more movies. On that day I realised what I had missed all this time.

His art is has this gothic and dark sense. These rough edges make it just really special and different from other movies. I also watched his first animation. This was made for his favourite poet Allan Edgar Phoo. I thought it was really cute and ad the same time weird. It’s so innocent but at the same time I felt the same as that little guy. I really entertained me even tough it is an old animation all in black and white.

What is also remarkable of his movies, that he always chooses for a certain actors and actresses. I am, of course, speaking of Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. I am font of these two. They are like brother and sister. They play so well together.

I’ve made a list of my top 6 favourite movies of Tim Burton. I’m curious of how your list looks like

  1. Sweeny Todd
  2. Edward Scissor hands
  3. Alice in wonderland (great animations)
  4. Frankenweenie
  5. Big Fish
  6. Charley and the chocolate factory

So, I love to see your lists of this great director. Just add it in the comment place. Thank you!

The Awesome Great Gatsby

Finally I got to see this movie. I’ve heard a lot about this movie but never got the change to see it.

It al begins with a man who lives right next to this mysterious Mr Gatsby. He was a writer but when Wall Street is having it’s best time he starts to study economics. His cousin lives right at the other side of the bay. On one day he gets invited to a party of this great Mr Gatsby. This party is awesome. The newest things are all there- big great swimming pool with nice ladies dancing around- Fireworks with a big bang. Everything is there.

When he meets Mr Gatsby he wants to ask him a favour. It’s a favour that makes al sense in the end.

I began really awkward. I didn’t know what the movie was about. I thought we would never meet Gatsby or never know something about him. But when you reach to the end it all makes more sense and it made me quiet curious.

The movie really, really made me more curious, something that not always work with me. Most of the time it annoys me when I don’t know where the movie is going. But this movie, I don’t know. It was just great. The end is what broke my heard… that’s all what I will say about it.

I would recommend this to everyone who likes this kind of life films. You see and hear what this person has been trough- his whole life is played in this movie.

I would rate it a 4 out of 5.

The Book Thief

On my Facebook page there was a post of IMDB with a film poster. It really caught my attention and clicked on the link.

The movie is about a little girl Liesel who gets adopted in the period when the Nazi’s were ruling Europe. She gets to meet her adoptive parents who live in the United Kingdom. On one day a Jew needs help and her parents gave him a place to stay. She isn’t allowed to talk about him with anyone. The man and Liesel share a great passion. They read banned books.

When I saw the trailer fell in love with this story. How exited to meet someone who shares this passion- how adventurous it must be to do something that’s not allowed. What I thought was nice too was that the film feels like you are in the third world war. Or at least the trailer did. I felt like the girl must have felt like in such times – to have your own resistance by just reading and sharing those books.

What I also think is going to be good about this movie is that they filmed it just right. The trailer show me the light times by this warm glow in the shots and how nervous it feels by the blue tinted scenes. But that is what I think. I should just wait until the film is released. I hope this movie really does have what I think it does and I hope it comes out soon. I really felt like watching it and I am really exited too!! This movie is in the cinema at the 13th of februari 2014.

And with that said I have another question for you all. What is the best war movie you have ever seen.

(the photo) Did you noticed it is captain Barbossa… without his beard!

And if you have answered that question, please look at some other post I’ve made just clicking on the home page. Thank you!

Movie Marathon night!

I’m holding a movie marathon! I’m really exited though. I only need to choose a theme for the evening. So I thought I’m going to make a list of 3 genres and give each genre 5 movies. So when I’m holding another movie marathon night, I don’t have to do this all over again.

So now lets see. What kinds of fun genres do we have?

#         Worst horror/thriller movies ever

#         Greatest Fantasy films

#         Greatest Life films

These are the three lists I’ve come up with. I know that the godfather has more than one film but we do have all night! In a few post I maybe will make a tutorial on how to make my favourite film snack.

I do have yet another question for you –What is your favourite theme for a nice movie marathon night? Just leave a comment here below.

Forgotten Childhood Movies

As a nineties kid I think we had the best movies ever. I wonder if the ’00 will do the same… If I’m looking trough my list of my favourite childhood movies (a lot of Disney tough) I spot that I’ve forgotten about a lot of awesome movies too.

Who remembers the Casper, the friendly Ghost? I loved this movie so bad when I was a child. I can remember I was really afraid of that woman who turns into a ghost at the end. What I also remembered is that I liked Casper better when he was in ghost-form than when he was a human. It discussed me that he transformed… although I don’t know why I did. I was just a weird child.

Another favourite was the little princess. I adored this movie. This girl was just so full of life and in that time of my life I really needed that. That even though it is a hard time there is a always better thing to think about and to live for. What I also remember is the guy with the tulip. You know, the one who gave them a free breakfast. Because of him I never trust a man with a tulip again.

These are just two of my forgotten childhood movies. I wonder do you have any forgotten childhood movies? Of what were you favourite movies?

Review The frozen ground

I read the title and the reviews on the movie and was really interested in this movie. I think this movie began really great but the end disappointed me really. They say the movie was based on a true story and that the victims were real. They even showed the pictures trough the movie. What irritated me the most was the cliché storyline of the stupid prostitute who runs away every time she’s safe.

The movie is about the killer Robert Hansen who kills young girls. He kidnaps them and ties them up in his house. He is a well-respected man in the society and nobody suspects him. When he gets tired of a girl he takes her them in his airplane and flies to a place that no soul would ever go. There he’ll hunt them like animals.

When there are like 20 girls missing a team gets placed on this case. So is the state trooper Jack Halcombe who gets transferred to another job in a few weeks. He just hasn’t signed the papers yet. When a girl  (Venessa Hudgens) escapes from the killer the agent and his co-workers are standing for a difficult job to get this man behind the bars.

As I said it was based on a true story and in the beginning it really felt that way. But when we reach to the end of the movie the researches begins to bore me and the survivor irritates the crap out of me. Seriously she is like really… I don’t even know any words to explain the stupidity of this girl.

Okay… back to the movie. A good thing of the movie was the feeling in the beginning as if you were to take part in the investigation. If I had to rate this movie I probably gave it a 6 out of 10.

I have just another question for you all-

What is the best ‘based on a true story’ movie you have ever seen and why is that?

Review Now You See Me

It all starts with four magicians who are making money with their own way of the art of illusion.  They met as they all got en invitation and discover a show. In this show they steal money from a bank and share it with the audience. This becomes a world hit and everybody talks about this act.

At this point a policeman and a woman from Interpol are placed on this case. They try to get them but the magicians who call themselves ‘the four Horseman’ are always six steps ahead.

When I first heard about this movie I really thought it was just a lame movie. Nothing spectacular. I cannot say how wrong I was. It is a really good movie that makes you suspect everyone. It starts really fast and the plot is really heading forward. In the middle it gets somewhat slower. But that isn’t that bad I think.

I think the movie has a good story and the overall effects are impressive. I would defiantly recommend this movie to a friend.

What did you think of this movie or what is your favourite movie?

What makes a good movie?

We have all seen those movies where you are already irritated by the fact that the storyline is falling apart in just 10 minutes. When a hero can jump over a bridge and land on a car without a scratch. I can really get annoyed when a movie that starts so well can fall down in just 1 second.

A good movie that really gets my attention is a movie with a good storyline. Taking for example the Sherlock Holmes movies. Just when you see it for the first time you don’t pay attention to all the detail in the movie. But when he begins to explain why he know that much, I think it’s wonderful at how they can the story very interesting until the last seconds.

Actors are making or breaking a movie too. When an actor is known for his good acting in drama movies -do not expect them to do that well in comedy. I don’t say they can’t but I do know that many actors do have a kind of reputation. Take, by example, Johnny Depp. I think he is one of the greatest actors- one of the best. But when I see him play a serious role, I think it’s not his best work. But as I said it’s not like it isn’t possible. The film Blow is an excellent movie of Johnny Depp.

What do you think a good movie must have? Or what a movie can make or break?
